Sometimes there is a Comedy Sketch where the Humor is so Clever that just THINKING about the Punch Line makes you LAUGH over and over again! After a Great Joke all that is required is RECALL! Humor is a great Mood Lifter! Works for me! So, here is a Classic Example if I'm not describing the Phenomenon well. This is Tina Fey reporting the news during a Saturday Night Live Broadcast. Fey: "Kirstie Alley is saying that rumors that she has regained the 70 pounds of weight she lost on Jenny Craig are NOT TRUE!" (short pause) "Hmmmm....." (another short pause) "She knows we can see her, right?"
Fey gets just the right tone, timing, and punch to make it a Hilarious line: "She knows we can see her, right?" I think Tina Fey is one of the Best Comedians of our time! I only discovered Liz Lemon (Fey) and the 30Rock TV show about a month before her debut as the Sarah Palin impersonator. Then Fey's uncanny resemblance to Palin was quite a lucky bonus and her Palin monologues were amazing. Rocketed her right to instant celebrity status.
A Vanity Fair Article (w/cover photo shoot) describes Fey as a person who I would find hard not to like. She describes herself in self-deprecating humor. First as a nerdy, bookish high school student who played in the band. She is an incredibly hard worker and a bit of a perfectionist. She is extremely loyal (married since 2001 with 1 daughter, Alice). And despite all the recent fame she is still more of a Homebody than a Party Girl. Over all, Fey sounds pretty Grounded to me. All that and Funny too!
I LOVE Tina Fey too Mom- so talented, smart and obviously, so, so funny. like you say, it's all about the delivery. can't wait for new 3rd rock episodes in fall :) and what's next on the horizon for Tina....
