Andie got a taste of the other side of the Sports World; she went from Athlete to Coaching this fall assisting the Fisher Cross Country Team! And they had a stellar season!
The boys WON the championship and set a course record! The girls took an impressive 3rd place!
I made it to some of the meets and got to watch Andie in action! She's all over the course! Running ahead to shout tips to the top runners and then dashing back to cheer on kids further back in the pack! She's a natural! You can tell that the kids like her and she's great to encourage all of them (the fast ones, the slow ones, and everyone in between).
Cheers for Coach Andie!
"The key to distance coaching is to get the mixture right for each individual. I think most coaches in the world know the basic ingredients of a runner's training program. What they have to do is to get to know their own athletes so well that they know the right recipe for them. It's a bit like making a Christmas cake: a question of individual taste." -Harry Wilson, who coached Steve Ovett
