When I saw the tag line for Walden Media, I knew the company fit Webb's nature! "Walden Media: Recapturing Imagination. Rekindling Curiosity."
Webb was completely (hopelessly at times) curious as a kid and his imagination was glorious! We all adored Webb's imaginary friend, TaTa, because Webb's vivid descriptions of TaTa were so endearing! Yet, TaTa was usually responsible for the naughtiest deeds that occurred! Imagine that!
'Curious George' was code for Webb on the loose! He dismantled our VCR, took apart small appliances, manhandled moveable parts within reach, and was ever curious on the details and inner workings of pretty much, well, everything. Webb's monkey collection took root as keepsakes of his Curious George personality!
So, if Walden values curiosity and imagination then their culture should be perfect for Webb's disposition! Eleanor Roosevelt (one of my heroes), said: "I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity." This mother is glad that Webb's "useful gift" of curiosity will be an asset at Walden Media!
Another cool thing about the company logo is the design of the rock skipping across a pond. But not just any pond! Walden Pond, of course! And as a Thoreau & Emerson fan, I like company's name choice! Plus, Walden Pond is in Concord, Massachusetts, not far outside Boston, the birthplace of their new employee, Webb Knudsen! He's come full circle!
