"Spring Cleaning" never made the calendar this spring and now in July the hearth and home is screaming to be purged! Too Much Stuff! (which is a far worse ailment than TMI - too much information!)
The good news is that I actually like to clean! Or, in this situation "I like to purge" would be a more accurate description of the task at hand. I find a lot of satisfaction in taking on each room as a project; which has to be broken down into lots of smaller (one-drawer-at-time) projects.
Completed Projects HAVE to garner REWARDS! Maybe people who don't like to clean aren't aware of this important stimlus! Rewards along-the-way are a critical part of the process! For example, my type/style of rewards might include: *leisurely reading the NY Times (good motivation for a news junkie!), OR, *reading a chapter of a book that you'd love to sit around and read all day (if you didn't have other pressing tasks), OR, *an outdoor run (the run you delayed so it could serve as a motivational incentive!).
The Reward System is a Integral Part of Cleaning & Purging! But I have to say that the best reward of all when you finish is simply looking over sparkling countertops, opening organized drawers, and viewing uncluttered rooms! Now that's a great feeling! I'd better quit writing about it and get to work....
